About the program

This long-term work program is designed for students who are completing (or have completed) hospitality or culinary studies and already have relevant hospitality experience. Participants are offered 6- to 12-month positions with reputable Australian businesses and can expect training within their field of study.

Roles are available in food production (savory culinary arts — baking and pastry positions are not offered), food and beverage, housekeeping, or front office, depending on experience and availability.

Advantages of a hospitality placement in Australia

  • Strengthen your CV with targeted professional experience
  • Gain valuable international work experience
  • Opportunity to obtain university credit
  • Network with international companies
  • Live and work in Australia

Placements are paid hourly roles. Participants receive a minimum of AUD$24.00 per hour (about US$16) and can expect to work at least 30 hours per week. Positions are offered with leading hotels, resorts, and renowned restaurants throughout Australia. Candidates must be flexible about placement and location.

During the program, participants may stay with host families or in student residences near their workplace. Ashiraj's Australian partner can help arrange housing, but housing and food costs remain the participant's responsibility. In some cases, meals are provided by the host employer while on duty. In remote areas, host companies may offer housing.

Throughout enrolment and the program itself, participants receive support from an Ashiraj coordinator and our Australian partner. We can assist with visa guidance; associated visa costs are the participant's responsibility. Participants receive regular monitoring and feedback, are invited to monthly intern social gatherings, and are issued a Certificate of Completion after successfully finishing the program and the final evaluation.
